Revision notes on multilingualism and multiculturalism in Spain (linked to peaceful coexistence); ways to promote "la convivencia escolar", including the context of Hispanic students in the USA,etc. There is also a section on threats to peaceful coexistence, such as ciberislamophobia, separatism, ETA and corruption. I have included some notes on the gypsies in Spain, slightly altered from what I included in the notes for "El racismo". This is so that students can make the conexion between both themes. This is a one page compendium of 15 differentiated activities on line to keep students engaged in Spanish post their Spanish GCSE. They are geared towards independent learning, no input from the teacher. It is ideal as summer work in preparation for the A Level. The activities include on line courses, podcasts, articles, videos, etc on topics such as Spanish customs, curiosities about the language, translation traps, current affairs and even a short course on art. Creative writing activity for the topic of Trade Unions

This is an adaptation of the original work by Joan Tobin. A Power point with notes to prepare students to answer the question of who holds the power in society, men or women.

This is a unit of work regarding surrogacy and the TV presenter Ana Obregón, who has become a mother and grandmother to her son’s baby. The unit of work includes: -an adapted newspaper article -a multiple choice exercise -a synonyms exercise -a translation into Spanish (sentences) -revision notes on the topic, to enable students to prepare… -two speaking cards on the topic, overlapping the sub themes of the influence of celebrities and surrogacy. A varied collection of cards on evictions and La Ley Mordaza, indigenous protests in Guatemala, Catalonia, rubbish collection protests, etc. You are spoilt for variety here! These cards are followed by general questions. The cards and questions can be used in class, set for homework, used in mocks or anything that stretches your imagination! A set of 10 cards touching upon a variety of sub-topics including Toledo as a a city of three cultures, Lavapiés (a suburb in Madrid) as an example of a successful diverse quarter , the santería, threats to social coexistence, etc. Many cards have links to newspaper articles that students can read to prepare the card or for extension reading. This is followed by general questions that allow students to reflect on knowledge of the world around them as well as that of the Hispanic world.
